5 Downtown Detroit parks hosting NFL ‘Draft Day in the D’ events

Detroit, Michigan – The Downtown Detroit Partnership is gearing up for the NFL Draft later this month with a three-day celebration across several downtown parks. Known as “Draft Day in the D,” the event promises a fun-filled experience for football fans and families alike.

The free festivities will take place at Capitol Park, Beacon Park, Paradise Valley Beatrice Buck Park, Grand Circus Park, and on a closed-off portion of Woodward Ave. between State Street and Witherell Street. Even those who are not attending the actual draft can partake in the excitement by watching the event on ten 20-foot video walls scattered throughout the parks.

In addition to live music and entertainment, there will be a variety of food options available from local restaurants and food trucks. Attendees can purchase alcoholic beverages including Bud Light, Budweiser, Michelob Ultra, and more at all five Draft Day in the D locations.

For those looking to shop and enjoy local goods, 45 vendors will be showcased each day at the parks. Over 60 local musicians will also have the opportunity to showcase their talents and entertain the crowds. Cigar rolling from La Casa Cigar will be available at Paradise Valley Beatrice Buck Park, and a cornhole tournament will take place at Beacon Park.

The festivities will kick off on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and wrap up on Saturday, April 27 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Draft Day in the D aims to offer an unforgettable experience celebrating football and community in the heart of Detroit.

“We are excited to offer Draft Day in the D as a family-friendly festival that spans across several downtown parks, all located within walking distance from the Draft event site,” said David Cowan, Chief Public Spaces Officer at DDP. “This event has something for everyone and is sure to create an unforgettable atmosphere celebrating football and community in the heart of Detroit.”

With tailgate food from over 35 local food trucks, tasty beverages, local vendors, and live entertainment, Draft Day in the D promises to be a weekend of football fun for all who attend. Don’t miss out on this exciting event that showcases the best of Detroit’s culture and community spirit.
