Losing Streak by less than jake is the greatest ska album ever made. Op ivy was a punk band who incorporated elements of ska/reggae. Both the energy cd and losing streak are the very best ska albums ever made.

A friend and i couldnt afford tickets to OCTW show in 96. We took a bus like 4 miles to the local alternative station they were doing an interview at. When they came out we asked them to put us on the list for free admission. They did.

Rancid had such a huge reach in Punk and Ska, more so than bands like Green Day and Blink imo. To be able to cross over into so many other different genres, without ever truly selling out. Because of Rancid, I discovered Anti Flag, Sublime, Aquabats, and then even older bands like The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Black Flag, Talking Heads, and the original punk scene. I lived in Cleveland and in the 90s we had a healthy punk scene. I would see the patched leather jackets and mohawks from older kids, and that's what pulled me into the wonderful world of punk. Wouldn't have ever happened without bands like Rancid and the other ones who made it on MTV.

I was a teenager that loved rock music and grew up watching MTV. After watching the Salvation video on MTV, I became an instant fan. Around a year later, I met Lars while just hanging out outside Gilman for a VGS show. He was such a chill & friendly guy! I was sad when Payless drugstore lost my film roll with the pic of Lars and I. I was only 15 at the time and I didn’t raise hell at the photo department 😢. I should have raised hell…but, still a good memory. 😄

I can see why "Fall Back Down" was considered to be their "sell out tarck", mostly cause it was also in video games (It was in a Nascar game that also introduced Avenged Sevenfold and Three Days Grace) and movies but I honestly thought it sounded more…rockabilly than pop.

I grew up listening to Rancid. I had no idea they had backlash and weren't well received at first. We also weren't on the internet 24/7 and over critiquing everything. Back then we heard a good song and that was that, didn't need the history behind the band, didn't even know what the band looked like most of the time. I just remember having the punk o rama cds… I remeber I used to think that one song "I want to fuck the dead" (not rancid) was so hilarious. Sorry I went off on a tangent.

Go on like that. Congrats .

I agree, I used to love rancid for many years , since my teens to around 15 years ago, that means from my 16 to my 33 (+/-) . Now I still like them but since " let the dominoes fall" I don't follow their new music. But Rancid will always have a so special place in my heart. I could see them live in 2018, not my rancid fan period but I was almost convinced that wouldn't see them live anymore. Glad to finally do it. I will always be disgusted with myself for never watch live SNFU….and many more but the Canadians played close to my hometown just before Mr Chi died and that hurted me , I am living with that on my back . Great video, great channel . Cheers from Spain

Op ivy never would have had the mass appeal of Green Day and if they had altered their sound to appeal to a larger audience they would have ruined their whole identity. They were great but not built for mainstream success.

I was born in 1985, I grew up in the era when AFI Rancid NOFX and Green Day where sold in skate shops, (ah the 90s era) I grew up on early AFI early Green Day operation Ivy and rancid I Still love today these bands even after they signed to label, it’s always amazing to see especially with bands you grew up listening too. I don’t listen to a lot of punk much anymore cause I listen to metal most of the time, but I still have these bands in my collection and still listen to them regularly.

I honestly believe that what held back Rancid from being as big as “Green Day” is the name. Their Music is full of heart, soul and they have a divine sound. The name “Rancid” doesn’t really match there sound, lyrics or tone.
They are still the absolute best
