I had to reread the title of the video to confirm that these, in fact, were the “best“ on offer… I feel like we need a new term to describe music so we don’t confuse it with actual… Music.

I really don't like how Willow's career is framed, Todd implies creative pursuits are something people have to be forced into when in reality all humans are capable of art if given an opportunity.

Im just now finding your channel I started with worst songs of 2023 then best of 2023 and I’ve just been working my way backwards and I’m just remembering all these songs that came out the past few years so crazy

A hot take here, but "My Ex's Best Friend" is a song that I heavily dislike with a passion. Like, I can sort of see why someone would like it, but also not really? I just find it incredibly boring; the instrumentation feels very generic and the vocals are genuinely unpleasant for me to listen to.

Only a minute and a bit in and I respectfully clicked off the video bc you called silk sonic ‘fine’ (I love that album too much) and I will watch the rest of this video after I have calmed down

I'm not sure it's possible to "get" Jacob Collier until you see him live. I felt the same at the time, and then a friend dragged me to one of his shows, and now I'm pretty sure I would join a cult if he asked me to.

Hey man I don't know if you have any control over your ads but I just got one for one of the shitty "pregnancy crisis centers" trying to keep people from taking Plan B. Just thought you might like to know

3 songs in, and I'm not sure if this is a serious list or if Todd is just moking us and just secretly made a "worst hit songs pt.2" list. Adeles whining makes me want to stab my eardrums and then blow up every speaker nearby, and that song in particular with her painful "goheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeZeeeeeee onme", no, just no! But while I can respect Adele for being an artist that is damn good at what she does, she just doesn't do stuff that I like, not even remotely, I can't say that about MGK. The most respectful way to put it is that I don't think I ever heard anyone put less emotion into his singing, ever. Idk if he's just so high he literally can't feel anything or if he just can't care, but all his songs would be way better with any other singer. If there's any Travis Barker song from 2021 I'd put on that list, it's "hollywood sucks" with Kenny Hoopla. That guy got more energy in one verse than MGK has in both his rock records.
It gets better after that, but those two… they are painfully bad 🤷‍♂ But I'm not here to hear something I agree to, I'm here for the entertainment 🙂

That opinion about Jacob is probably the most gut-wrenching thing I’ve heard come out of your mouth… I usually agree with you, but I love that album so fucking much! Hope his sound clicks for you someday

This dude lost all credibility putting mgk and blackbear on a best songs list. Who paid this dude to sell his soul. 2 years later and mgk and blackbear are two of the biggest jokes in music. What a wiff.. and then willow, who also has flopped and only had one TikTok song on top of that… You can tell this dude gave up on critiques and is into getting happy teen views. Is this supposed to be a worst list? He literally doesn't critique anything in this video he just couple has a couple bad jokes and opinions. Sza is the only legit one on here. Back to actual critques please. Baby keem a joke who had his shit written by kendrick, jesus fucking Christ, this video gave me cancer. You gotta go back and redo this one bruh. And no Giveon? Sheesh, If you only knew telepathia from tick tock you f**** fail

I started tearing up when I heard the family ties intro it was that serious for me… i really love how rap has been embracing the mid beat switch up again because that shit is so powerful with some DOPE VERSES. thats what we’ve been missing, the dope verses. family ties makes me unrealistically giddy like a middle school boy listening to soundcloud around his friends

I've been going through all these top 10s over the last week and I think this is the first year where I wasn't aware of any of the songs in either list! Heard of a few from both honourable mentions though.
Now I'm from the UK so that cuts out the country stuff, I also stopped listening to Radio 1 (young demographic) about 10 years ago (not because of the music, but because of the obnoxious presenters) and now I listen to a station that only plays the very most popular current pop stuff (so there goes the rap) and a ton of older stuff, so I've heard of Olivia Rodrigo, but apparently Brutal didn't chart here so they never played it!
Looking at the UK top 100 I've heard about 40 of them and a lot of the songs from both lists are there just I never heard them.
For what it's worth my favourite is Blinding Lights from the Weekend and if I was going to pick one that isn't in the US chart, but is on the UK one it would be 17 Going Under by Sam Fender.

31:30 Upon further reflection I think it's incredibly dumb that Todd has Lil Nas X hit song with Jack Harlow called Industry Baby as an honorable mention instead of in the top ten. I think it's ridiculous that Machine Gun Kelly was placed in the top 10 ahead of Lil Nas X.

The thing about Willow is, she’s been making music like this for years, just none of it got super popular. We all know her for the whip my hair song, which she definitely had zero control over. But know she’s older and she has her own style which is incredible
